Hypnotherapy utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

The process itself aims to alter our state of consciousness in a way that relaxes the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focussing the subconscious part. This heightened state of awareness - reached using skilled relaxation techniques - allows the therapist to then make appropriate suggestions.

When might hypnotherapy be useful?

Hypnotherapy is widely endorsed as a treatment for habit breaking, stress related issues and for a range of long-term conditions, and in recent years has been gaining steam in the medical world after a recommendation from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recognised hypnotherapy as a treatment for Irritable bowl IBS.

Reiki is a form of healing using life-force energy. Reiki comes from ancient Sanskrit texts rediscovered by Mikao Usui in the late 1800’s in Japan. The Japanese word Reiki means ‘Universal Energy’, the energy which flows through all living things and is vital to well-being.
This energy is known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’ in China, and ‘prana’ in India. Acupuncture, tai chi and yoga use the same energy, Reiki at the very least will relax your body and mind and can also help to heal emotional and physical problems.

Reiki works on many different levels, from stress related problems to relationship dilemmas with the healing effects are often felt in-between treatments. Reiki can accelerate the healing of physical conditions, especially post-operative recovery, balancing emotions, including stress, trauma and grief. It can free us from restrictive mental attitudes, like jealousy, anxiety and anger. It may also provide a closer connection with inner wisdom. The client lies on a comfortable massage couch, fully clothed. Soothing ‘reiki music’ is played and the Reiki healer uses the placement of hands, gently on or just above the client for about 5 minutes on each position. The entire session lasts for about an hour.
During the session you may experience a warmth, tingling sensations or waves of energy over the body. People can react to Reiki by sneezing, laughing or coughing but what is universal, is that everyone feels a great sense of relaxation and peace.
After the treatment, you should feel as though you have been wrapped in cotton wool. We recommend that you drink plenty of water and rest as much as possible. The beneficial effects will stay with you for several days.
Many of us have heard about aromatherapy and often assume that this is just about little bottles of oil that smell. Aromatherapy is far more than just pleasant scents, the essential oils can also be used to promote physical, spiritual and mental well-being. The molecules are also administered through inhalation through the nose and transmitted to the part of the brain which influences the nervous and hormonal systems, and which is connected to higher functions such as memory and emotional behaviour.

You will of course receive benefits this way during an aromatherapy massage, or whilst enjoying a bath to which oils have been added, but sometimes direct inhalation from a tissue or pillow is recommended, or using a diffuser to spread the molecules around a room. When high quality essential oils are used correctly, the combination of attractive aromas, massage, relaxing baths and creams or lotions can work to balance, heal and maintain your physical and mental well-being.
Aromatherapy does not cure conditions, but can help the body to find a way to heal itself and improve immune response.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, safe and non-invasive complementary therapy, which is suitable for the whole family throughout every stage of life. It can help reduce stress levels and help restore the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

It works on the belief that reflex points on the feet and hands are linked to all the organs, bodily systems and the skeletal structure of the body. These reflex points are stimulated or sedated by applying pressure to the points on the feet or hands in order to promote relaxation and feeling of well-being.
Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from 4 week old new-born babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. However, there may occasionally be times when permission will need to be sort from your medical doctor first as there are some conditions that Reflexology may not be advised.
The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually, after a treatment your tension will be reduced and you will feel more relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving.

Reflexology can help treatment people with the following conditions:
stress & anxiety

neck & shoulder tension
back pain

ME & chronic fatigue syndrome
digestive disorders, IBS & constipation
headaches / migraines
