What to expect from your Hypnotherapy Session.  
What happens during each individual session is specific to you the client. It is tailored to you specifically but the structure of the session is the same for everyone.
The most important part is getting to know each other! 
Once we are both settled and comfortable, the first thing I'm going to do is tell you a bit about myself, then I’m going to ask you a few questions about you and get you to tell me about your issue and how it currently affects you. Then I will explain all about hypnosis and answer any questions you might have. 
Hypnotherapy isn't magic and I'm not a magician, you are the one who is in control and my role as a hypnotherapist is to help you to access your subconscious mind, the part of your mind where all of your learnt behaviours and memories are kept, it is you that does the work, my job is just to help you unlock that part of your mind.
The conversation we have at the very beginning of the session is where my skills come in. I have to be an excellent observer, ask great questions, think on my feet and be able to explain everything to you in an easy to understand way with as little jargon as possible.
Getting and sharing the right information at the start is what determines everything that happens for the rest of the session.
Towards the end of our conversation, I’ll explain how hypnosis or trance feels.  For most people they have a feeling of heaviness in their arms and legs, they feel totally relaxed but also aware of what is being said and they never feel out of control.  Trance is often described a little like nodding off in front of the TV or whilst traveling, you aren't quite asleep and you can still hear everything but your eyes feel heavy and your body relaxed. 
The Induction - the beginning process! 
The induction is the process by which the client is led into that very relaxed high learning state known as hypnosis or trance. During the induction you are going to hear everything and be aware of everything that is taking place, this can take anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes to make sure that you are fully relaxed and in the trance state. 
Once the initial induction is complete I then move onto the therapy itself. 
This is where the “change work” takes place. It may be where we go through the process needed to help you with pain management, weight loss, becoming a non-smoker, overcoming fear or phobia, increasing your confidence or something else.
The therapy and suggestions made are only what you have said you wanted at the beginning of the session. You will not come in seeking help with sleep issues and walk out with the uncontrollable urge to take up jogging for instance.
The final portion of the session is to simply bring you out of your trance. This is a gentle process. It is not done in a hurry. I am paying close attention to you as you are coming out of the trance to see that you are waking up properly and still relaxed. 
Because hypnosis is so relaxing and enjoyable, many clients want to stay right there so this is why the process is nice and gentle.

For me, one of the most exciting and beautiful aspects of hypnotherapy is just how quickly positive change can be manifested in people’s lives through this tool.
Unlike many therapeutic approaches (some of which take years), in many cases just a couple of sessions of hypnosis is all that is needed to address a specific issue. Most issues are successfully addressed in fewer than four. And that’s all there is to it!
